The Tools....

Since the Military, Police,Fire and Search &Rescue K9 Handler often acts as the first responder for their animal, time, as well as the first aid supplies that are on hand are critical. The BUDDY BAG. is equipped with all of its contents designed specifically for a dogs needs. The main feature of the BUDDY BAG. is a specialized breathing apparatus that is formed to fit any dogs muzzle. The specialized cone-shaped oxygen mask allows for a secure fit on the dogs face. Many animals receive burns through the course of an explosion, fire or accident, therefore specialized burn sheets, bandages, rinsing saline and protective restraints are also included in the BUDDY BAG.

How are the First Responders trained?
Saving an animals life requires special training. For the Military Dog handler, they receive extensive training on first aid for their K9. They are most always the dogs first responder and are trained as such. For police and fire departments, when a BUDDY BAG. is donated, that department is given in-depth training from a qualified, licensed veterinarian. Each respondent is given "hands-on"  training with the BUDDYBAG.. Rescuers are taught how to administer oxygen, how to perform first-aid for injuries, administer life-saving drugs, and how to use supplies they may already have on hand. Reassuring restraint methods are demonstrated to allow for safe and effective treatment and transport.
